Article Title: Cleaning a Laptop/Computer/HDTV Screen
Category Resource Page: Laptops

Article:
This applies to just about any monitor/flat panel tv, especially glossy displays. It can be quite easy to damage these displays with incorrect cleaning practices because there is little or no protective glass or other layer between the actual working surface in many cases. Most older TVs/Monitors had a thick pane of glass to protect them, these do not.

The best way to clean these screens is to use a soft microfiber cloth, such as the type used to clean glasses. Most cleaning can be done with just this, but if something won't come off with a light wipe from a microfiber cloth, then attempt to remove it with a small amount of pure (distilled) water. You want it to be as pure as possible so as not to leave any sediments. Only use as much as you need - usually a drop or two will do, you do not want to make the cloth damp.

You should not apply the water or any other spray to the screens directly, but rather to the microfiber cloth.

I've used these techniques to keep my screens in near perfect conditions for the past 5+ years, it should work for you as well.
